Thomas Weeks To Contest Divorce with Juanita Bynum

According to his attorneys, Bishop Thomas Weeks will contest Juanita Bynum’s petition for divorce.

He needs to let her go and get some help with his anger.

Randy Kessler, one of Weeks’ attorneys, said they are considering whether the counterclaim will accuse Bynum of cruel treatment, the charge her divorce petition levels at Weeks, reports the Associated Press.     

“Cruel treatment is a very vague legal term,” Kessler said. “There’s a possibility that there’s cruel treatment on both sides, but we’re not committed to that position.”     

So people the drama continues. What point is he trying to prove with this move? 

Sherri Shepherd Named New Host on The View

It’s official. Sherri Shepherd has been named the new host on ABC’S The View according to People Magazine’s website.  Check out the interview I did with Shepherd earlier this year.

Shepherd’s resume includes roles on a variety of television shows such as The Jamie Foxx Show, Less Than Perfect, Everybody Loves Raymond, and numerous movies such as Guess Who and Beauty Shop.  Prior to being named the host, along with Whoopi Goldberg, over the past few months Sherri had been guest hosting. 
Shelia Goss: My first memory of you was as Sheila from The Jamie Foxx Show. Since then, I’ve seen you on various TV shows as well as guest hosting on The View. You appear to be a natural behind the camera. Did you always know you wanted a career in entertainment or was it something that “just happened”?
Sherri Shepherd: I knew at 4 years old, that I loved performing in front of people. At 4, my grandmother use to cook Sunday dinner for all of the family (cousins, 2nd cousins, aunts, uncles, great aunts, etc.) and after we ate, she’d put me in front of them and say “do your little program” and I would make everyone laugh. As I got older, I knew I’d either be a radio deejay or I would marry Michael Jackson. My career did not just “happen”. As a Christian, I don’t believe in “coincidences”. I believe that God appoints and directs everything. So this career is truly a blessing from above.

Shelia: What has been one of your most unforgettable roles?
Sherri Shepherd: I LOVED playing the crazy “Sheila” on the Jamie Foxx show. Jamie allowed me to improv a lot of my scenes, and sometimes he’d be laughing so hard at my antics, he’d make me do take after take! There was one episode where I wanted to be in his music video, and I came out dancing crazy in a red dress… I fasted on water for 5 days before wearing that tight dress… after Jamie made me do that dance scene about 6 or 7 times, I was ready to pass out!

Shelia: You wear multiple hats (mother/actress/comedian/etc). a) How do you balance it all and b) How do you stay grounded with your success?
Sherri Shepherd: Girl… PRAYER!!!! And this baby has made me run to the grocery store to purchase some One-A-Day multivitamins! I stay grounded, cuz’ I know that this success is a blessing… God giveth and God taketh away.

Shelia: What advice would you give someone who is interested in pursing a career as an actor?
Sherri Shepherd: Make sure that is really what you want to do, cuz’ this business is not for the fainthearted. There are very few “overnight” successes. Most successful people you see, worked their butts off…so unless you get on American Idol and get in the Top 10 and make it to the Top 2, get ready for the long haul.

Shelia: What’s next for Sherri Shepherd? Any more TV shows or upcoming movies?
Sherri Shepherd:

Larry Birkhead Questions Source in New Anna Nicole Smith Book

Anna Nicole Smith is dead but her name or should I say drama surrounding her name lives on.

Larry Birkhead questions the reliability of sources used in a new book about Anna Nicole Smith.

Among the allegations in Cosby’s “Blond Ambition: The Untold Story Behind Anna Nicole Smith’s Death,” are that Birkhead and Howard K. Stern, Smith’s attorney and companion, had an affair — and that an intimate moment between the two was caught on videotape.

“That’s totally false and it’s defamatory,” Birkhead said. “I’ve heard the sources from that, and those sources are people that don’t — that haven’t been in Anna’s life and haven’t even met me.” Read more…

Until September 4, Prophetess Juanita Bynum had not publicly spoken about the alleged beating she suffered at the hands of her estranged husband, Bishop Thomas Weeks, III. The only comment she made was through her publicist, Amy Malone, who said on behalf of Bynum that she wasn’t in a fight with Weeks; she was attacked.

Nicole Richie In and Out of Jail in Record Time

Nicole Richie was sentenced to serve four days in jail for DUI, but faster than you can blink; Nicole was back on the streets. She spent 82 minutes or 1 hour and 22 minutes or 4, 920 seconds behind bars.    If I lived in California, I would be upset. That’s a waste of taxpayers money. She might as well have gotten probation from the beginning.

Reality TV star Nicole Richie was released by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department after serving just 82 minutes of her four-day sentence for driving under the influence of drugs.

Richie reported to the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood at 3:15 p.m. After being processed, sheriff’s officials released her at 4:37 p.m. Source: LA Times

I could spend 82 minutes in rush hour traffic trying to get from point A to point B. I could spend 82 minutes shopping at Wal-mart. I could spend 82 minutes surfing the net and not getting any work done. I wish I could get my a hair done in 82 minutes.

Juanita Bynum’s Husband Thomas Weeks Turns Himself In

Eurweb.com reported earlier that Bishop Thomas W. Weeks III had been charged with felony aggravated assault and making terrorist threats against his wife, televangelist Juanita Bynum, after he allegedly stomped and choked her in a hotel parking lot and threatened to kill her.

The Atlanta Constitution reported this morning that Weeks has surrendered to authorities.  

Thomas W. Weeks, a 54-year-old bishop who shares an international ministry with his estranged wife Juanita Bynum, surrendered to Atlanta police Friday on charges that he assaulted his wife.

Bynum’s husband has retained two lawyers: famed defense attorney Ed Garland to represent him in the criminal case; and Louis Tesser, to take care of the domestic matter.Garland has in the past represented NFL star Ray Lewis in his murder trial and millionaire James Sullivan, who ordered the murder of his socialite wife.

“He very much regrets what happened and said he’s sorry for what it’s worth,” Tesser said Thursday night.

Weeks loves his wife, Tesser said, and “he hopes he doesn’t wind up getting a divorce.”

“Anytime you tell a person, ‘I’m going to kill you,’ that moves it up to a felony,” Campbell said. And her bruises were serious enough to merit felony aggravated assault charges against Weeks.

In a comment posted on her MySpace page, the evangelist said, “I am currently recovering from all of my injuries and resting well … this, too, shall pass.”

“People are interpreting it to mean the two of them were fighting,” Malone said. “They were not fighting. She was assaulted.”

Lindsay Lohan will get Jail Time

Lindsay Lohan, a member of the brat pack, will be doing some jail time. How much is the question? 

By law, because Lohan plead no contest to  two counts of DUI, she becomes a second offender with two DUIs and like Nicole Richie must serve a minimum of four days in jail.  Read more at Perez Hilton.

Juanita Bynum – Was it Domestic Abuse?

My mouth dropped wide open when I read that Juanita Bynum was assaulted by her husband who’s a minister. I’m not sure if this is the first time or if this has happened time and time again, but you never know what a person is going through. She’s been there for so many women. Her books and her tapes have uplifted me and my heart goes out to her.

Some might ask, if it was domestic abuse, why did she let it go on? Well, it looks like she was estranged from her husband at the time of the incident that’s being reported and for good reason.  Abuse wrecks havoc on a persons psyche. Imagine being an advocate for women everywhere and then you end up in a abusive relationship. The first thing I could imagine is disbelief. I would think I was dreaming and saying to myself, “I know this isn’t happening to me.” When reality hits, I can imagine planning my next step, asking myself, “how can I get out of this?” Sadly, I would have to say that “shame” may be another reason why it may have been hidden for so long.  I can imagine him taunting her not to report it because of her statue in the community.  It upsets me to think about it.

When it comes to abuse, whether verbal or physical, signs are there. Its best not to ignore the signs and to put a stop to it when you first notice it.  We have to stop excusing bad behaviour.

ATLANTA – Police said Juanita Bynum, a televangelist who has won a national following with sermons about women’s empowerment, was assaulted by her preacher husband in the parking lot of an Atlanta hotel early Wednesday.  To read the entire article, click here.
