Book of the Week – Double Platinum

Advance Review for Double Platinum by Shelia M Goss

Review by Janice Spence, Freelance Music Journalist (Gossip/News columnist and former contributor and Don Diva UK, etc.)

Double Platinum takes you on an emotional rollercoaster ride through the life of R&B star Parris Mitchell, who is forced to turn her career around after falling off the top spot while struggling to overcome a former lover’s betrayal, a major bout of depression and unwanted media attention.   However there is light at the end of a very dark tunnel which comes in the form and shape of handsome hit producer Casper……

Sheila Goss’ latest novel provides an exciting, unique and insightful look in to the music industry through the eyes of Parris Mitchell. A singer desperate to reclaim her spot at the top of the charts while embarking on a very intense relationship with her producer turned lover Casper.

This page turning love affair keeps you gripped throughout, wondering if it can survive due to Parris’ impending comeback, her trust issues, an interfering reporter going by the name of Sandy and Parris’ “I think the world, revolves around me” attitude.

It’s this attitude that often leaves you feeling less than sympathetic towards Parris during her often traumatic journey, and feeling sorry instead for the people closest to her.

However Goss skillfully reminds us that underneath Parris’ sometimes hard R&B diva exterior is an insecure young woman who just wants to be loved and respected when it’s all said and done.

Double Platinum moves at break neck speed and is a thoroughly enjoyable read. If you’re looking for a novel that successfully combines glamour, suspense and intrigue with a highly charged love affair then this is the novel for you.

  1. I know this will be #1 with a bullet. I hope it sells double platinum for you because you deserve it. I read another review somewhere else, and it also showed that you have crafted another compelling story.

BTW: I like the new look. Crisp!
